To help confirm the reports that
owners were giving us about fuel mileage when towing a
TrailManor, TrailManor recently
conducted some towing tests of its
own, using an independent testing firm,
Transportation Research Center, Inc.,
East Liberty, OH,
to evaluate the difference in fuel
mileage when towing a conventional
"lightweight" upright travel trailer,
and when towing a TrailManor.
The tests were conducted using a Honda
Odyssey minivan as the tow vehicle.
The 19-foot travel trailer was the
largest available that still fell
within the Odyssey's tow rating of
3,500 pounds. By comparison, the
30-foot TrailManor, at approximately
2900 pounds dry weight, was well under
the vehicle's tow limitations.
A fuel flow meter system and
instrumentation were installed in the
minivan, and it was run on a 7.5 mile
vehicle test track. After the
tow vehicle's fuel mileage by itself
was measured, towing tests were run
with the 19-foot conventional trailer
and a 3023 (30-foot) TrailManor.
Each test was run for a total of 45
miles.
The results were
dramatic: Even though the TrailManor was an
11-foot
larger trailer than the upright, it
allowed the Honda Odyssey to have more
than twice the fuel efficiency.
One of the greatest advantages
of a TrailManor trailer is its light
weight and ability to be towed easily
with smaller vehicles like the Honda
Odyssey and other minivans,
crossovers, and small SUVs.
This
test helps confirm what TrailManor
owners have been telling us for a long
time: that TrailManor is
America's Easiest Towing Travel
Trailer.
